BroadSoft the worldwide provider for Voice-over-IP (VoIP) applications has joined hands with Verizon Business for a new Global Fixed Mobile Convergence (Global FMC) service.
The new service will allow organizations to contact their employees with the same number for their mobiles as well as fixed office phone. This is a cost effective and innovative solution which will help organizations in getting better control and high deliverables. The employees would not have to worry about remembering multiple numbers and can give their clients just one number on which they will be available.
The concept is simple and helpful and is powered by cutting edge technology. The new service helps mobile phones to include the functionality of stationary office desk phones, providing access to communication messaging and familiar office phone features. So company employees can now carry their work around their office and would not have to search for important details in case they get an important call from their client and they are not at their desk. They can also switch calls from the mobile phone to their desktop phones and vice versa, they can also send calls to mobile phones and office desktop phones simultaneously.
The service is well equipped with Hosted Unified Communications, Hosted Video Communications, Mobile PBX, Business Trunking, broadband and VoIP application platform. This will add to the convenience of the users.
The FMC makes the connectivity factor very strong and will help organizations in being ahead and providing better services to their valued customers. However it might also add to woos of some employees who might not find the idea of a desktop phone acting as a mobile phone appealing

FCC runs test to find the speed of your mobile broadband
Run your memory back and you will remember the Verzion showing the 3G coverage map of AT&T to which AT&T said that their service cover 97% of the country. The irony is the AT&T themselves made an advertisement that they do not have coverage beyond 3G and 3G isn’t available everywhere.
FCC releaseda free iPhone app, made by Ookla, to know what difference does 3G makes and how fast your mobile internet is.
Take note of the app disclaimer if you are bothered about your personal information ending up in server of the Feds. For identifying the inefficient and nonexistent access to broadband FCC has put large efforts to examine quality and coverage of mobile broadband by pooling the results.
TJ Luomaby downloading the application ran three sets of tests three times each and checking each time on Wi-Fi, 3G and edge and averaged the results for each network to remove the glitches.
The result of the test was not very good especially for those who live in an area without 3G coverage from AT&T. Taking three parameters; download speed, upload speed and latency the results was formulated. It was found that performance of Wi-Fi was almost double the performance of 3G enabled internets and the speed of the edge was terribly low.
BT Home Hub 2 is a speedy and hight tech new broadband modem which allows you high speed Internet connection and allows you more fast Internet calls too.
The results can be tabulated as follows-
Network Download
Higher is better Upload
Higher is better Latency
Lower is better
Wi-Fi 4,371kbps 612kbps 741ms
3G 1960kbps 310kbps 1,054ms
Edge 64.3kpbs 54kbps 4,936ms
Release of an app called Mark the Spot for simplifying report of trouble spots was a nice gesture by AT&T and hopefully the reported problematic areas would be shortly catered to. It was surprising not to find the 3G coverage map of AT&T which the company claimed in its advertisement defying Verzion.

Broadband users are on fly, mobile internet users still on the runway
The second World Internet Project survey carried out last in New Zealand year shows that 83% of new Zealanders now use internet as compared to 78% in 2007 . Transition of 6% internet users to non-users was noticed, the reason in general being futility and lack of interest among 40% non users.
Registering a growth in broadband users, 83% of the internet users at home now have non-dial up connection as against 66% in 2007.
Having compared the data for increased broadband users in different income brackets, it was found that the high income household reported higher growth as expected but for households earning less than $25,000 a year, more than 80% use broadband whereas in the next income bracket($25,000 to $39,000), it was less than 70%.
With 6% of the surveyed population using internet between one to four hours in a week on mobile, the mobile internet is yet to show a sparkling growth.
Social networking sites such as Facebook and Bebo enjoyed a double edge growth with the percentage reaching 50% from 28% in 2007. The users said that this increase hasn’t led to decrease in other modes of contact except for face-to face contact from ever since they started the use of internet.
The internet users when asked about the source of authentic information confirmed their fear of stereo typed media and considered internet to be the largest source with 65% voting for it slightly above the newspaper and television users.
BT Home Hub Phone – If you want to do frequent calls to your friends then BT home hub phone is specially for you. With BT Hub phone you can do frequent calls just by using an Internet connection.
But when we talk about entertainment, Television, being the choice of 56% surveyed population, is still the leader of all entertainment providers and internet rated by only 35% as a source of entertainment.
Institute of Culture, Discourse & Communication AUT University coordinated the above WIP study and has planned to compare the data for 2009 with other WIP participating countries.

Google to enter the world of broadband services
After revolutionizing the world of email, search engine and smart phones, the Google Inc. is all set to take the world of broadband services by storm. The leading search engine provider company announced its plans to enter the coveted business of broadband services by setting up a one gigabyte per second broadband system. This is sure to set business plans and strategies rolling in the broadband realm, especially in the US as the competitors will have to revamp their offerings in order to match up that of Google’s one.
As witnessed already, in the world of email, where the other companies like Yahoomail and Hotmail were providing storage within 100mb, Google’s Gmail offered an initial one of over 1000mb and the current storage capacity stands at some nice 7k figure. This has led to over 100 times increase in the storage capacity provided by major email clients.
Similarly, in the domain of smart phones, Google’s Nexus One has posed a serious competition to other smart phones providers such as Apple (iPhone), BlackBerry etc.
The features of Nexus One are far more exciting and appealing than those provided by its contemporaries. Motorola’s latest offering looks like a stone age device when pitched against Nexus One.
Special BT Broadband Deals - BT internet broadband offers the most complete UK broadband packages Award Winning BT Broadband & Calls deals for £7.00 a month.
Google’s latest venture into the world of high speed broadband services is expected to have similar affects and as in other sectors, here as well, it will be the consumers who will stand to benefit the most as lots of things and services are offered as freebies by the Ata Turk of Silicon Valley.
